NATIONAL HIRE FIRM BOOSTS FLEET WITH JCB VIBROMAX MACHINES
National plant hire firm Hawk has added 20 JCB Vibromax models to its 1,500-strong fleet of construction machines.
Hawk, which already boasts a wide variety of JCB machines in its range including backhoe loaders and Loadall telescopic handlers, has added 14 vibratory single drum compactors and six tow-type vibratory compactors.
The vibratory single drum compactors in the Hawk order included four VM115Ds, six VM132Ds, two VM166Ds and two VM200Ds. VM machines boast incredible class-leading gradeability with the VM166D able to ascend a 32-degree gradient. It is among seven single drum compactors in the JCB Vibromax range, from the 4.6-tonne VM46D/PD up to the 19.7-tonne VM200D/PD. The robust machines are simple to operate making them an ideal choice for the rental market.
The tow-type vibratory compactor chosen by Hawk, the 6.5-tonne VM651, is among two in the JCB Vibromax range. It produces a centrifugal force of 210kN, compared to the 135kN produced by its sister product, the 3.9-tonne VM501.
Hawk Director and General Manager Paul Allman said he was pleased with the machines. He said: “We have a good relationship with JCB and with the dealer, Gunn JCB. This is the first time we’ve bought Vibromax compaction equipment through them. We’ve had very good service from JCB in the past which helped us make the decision to buy these products.”
JCB Vibromax has made rapid progress since JCB bought the Vibromax business. Global sales of ride-on machines rose by 67 per cent and production capacity doubled in 2006. Two new tandem vibratory rollers were unveiled earlier this year, the VMT160 and the VMT260. Their large fuel tanks will give plant hire customers a whole day’s extra usage out of the machines compared to competitors’ machines, making them the most productive models in the sector.
Other machines in the JCB Vibromax range include double drum vibratory rollers, multi-purpose vibratory compactors, plate compactors and rapid blow tampers.
Hawk Plant Hire rents machines to thousands of customers across the UK every year. The company’s machines range from huge excavators to JCB micro excavators, and also include a large fleet of articulated dump trucks and wheeled loading shovels. The purchase of the JCB Vibromax machines will take Hawk’s total number of compaction units to 90.
JCB Vibromax Managing Director Steve Gardener said: “The JCB Vibromax business continues to grow and it is a big commendation that an established and well respected national plant hire firm like Hawk has placed an order of this scale. It demonstrates the quality of the product that almost a quarter of Hawk’s compaction equipment is now JCB Vibromax.”
